- This position is part of the ZF ADAS & HPC business unit known internally as "Capri." This business unit is planned for divestiture to Harman International, a Samsung company and global innovator in automotive technology, presenting a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new chapter in the ADAS space. What you can look forward to as a Function Safety Engineer: 1. Develop Safety Plans and Strategies according to ZF safety process and ISO26262: This includes defining safety goals, determining the safety lifecycle, planning development activities, allocating resources, and setting milestones. 2. Conduct Concept-Level and System-Level safety analysis, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), derive the system's safety goals and their required Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL). 3. Define Technical Safety Requirements: Translate the system-level safety goals into specific, verifiable technical safety requirements. These requirements serve as input for system and hardware/software level design, ensuring the safety goals are implemented in the technical solution. 4. Safety Design and Verification: Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to ensure the technical solutions (e.g. safety mechanisms, architecture design) meet the safety requirements. Responsible for planning and reviewing safety test cases, and tracking verification results to demonstrate that the final product meets the defined safety goals. 5. Support Safety Case and Audits: Responsible for collecting and organizing all safety-related evidence to generate the final safety case report. This report is used to demonstrate to management and customers that the product meets the requirements of the ISO 26262 standard and ZF safety process. Also, support internal and external functional safety audits and assessments. Your profile as a Function Safety Engineer: 1. In-depth Knowledge of Standards and Regulations: including functional safety standards (ISO 26262), SOTIF (ISO 21448), AI safety (ISO 8800) and cybersecurity (ISO 21434), and other relevant industry regulations and guidelines. Understand the underlying principles and intent behind the standards, rather than just memorizing the clauses. 2. Solid Foundation in Systems Engineering and the V-Model Methodology. Master systems engineering thinking and have a deep understanding of the V-model development process. Possess the ability to conduct system-level, hardware-level, and software-level hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety requirement definition, and architecture design, ensuring safety is integrated throughout the entire development lifecycle. 3. Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills. Be proficient in using structured analytical methods (e.g., FMEA, FTA, DFA) to identify, analyze, and trace the root causes of potential failures in complex systems. Able to derive effective safety mechanisms and solutions based on evidence and data to mitigate risks. 4. Proficient Technical Tool Application Skills. Be skilled in using relevant engineering software tools, including requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, PTC, Codebeamer), system modeling tools (e.g., UML, SysML), failure analysis tools (e.g., Medini Analyze), and configuration management tools, to improve work efficiency and ensure quality. 5. Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills. Possess outstanding cross-function communication and coordination skills. Able to clearly convey complex safety concepts, requirements, and issues to team members from different backgrounds (e.g., systems, hardware, software, test engineers, and project managers), and drive consensus to ensure the achievement of safety goals.
